Many people know about how GTA3 was banned in Australia because some S@!t for brains mamma didn't like what she saw or so the reports say.
They will re-release the game with a title probarly like "Barbies fun city experience" which have everything censored from the blood on the wheels of your car to the guy in a overcoat with a drawing of a D!<k peein hehe.
What i'm gona be pissed off about is will they do the same for METAL GEAR SOLID 2 because of a little blood that spourts out when you shoot some1, i hope not.
Why do they change games just coz of some over protective parent who wants there kids growing up all nice and sweet.
The kids will see the kind of stuff in real life it's good to learn when you young so that you understand when your older and don't look stupid askin questions about those things.
If parents complain about it so much just don't look at it or listen to it, or just don't buy it for your 10 year old son who'll probarly grow up playing with bunnies and getting a petting zoo job for life.
Some changes aren't bad like changing the speech and the subtitles in the game from Jap to English and etc.
But with parents bad mouthing games like that they will wreck it for the rest of us who don't give a S!@T about petty things like blood, but instead just wanna play the dame game and enjoy it for what it's worth.

I just wanna say to all the parents who object to games like GTA3 "Know your Role and Shut your Mouth!!!"

Any1 else feel that way!?

The problem lies with those parents who buy these games for young kids.
There is a known phenomenon known as 'de-sensitising', where if someone sees enough blood and gore, it no longer bothers them. The same idea as 'It's easier to murder second time round'.

I don't think these games should be banned, but I'm totally in favour of keeping them away from the easily influenced young.
We live together in a society where this level of agression is no longer required, so this idea of our kids growing up to be pansies is bollocks. In your view,if a youth doesn't knife the first person he sees, is he a poof? I don't think so.
It is every parent's duty to ensure their offspring grow up to be well balanced individuals. That means not bearing automatic aggression to everyone they encounter, but at the same time able to defend themselves when required.
Unfortunately it has been proved many times during research and in case histories that early exposure to violent games increases the chance of that child suffering a mental imbalance.

If some people don't wish to integrate with society and to adhere with the unwritten rules, then they should go and live in a remote cave somewhere, ideally on another planet, and allow the rest of us to enjoy a decent quality of life.

Thankyou Mr Wright, case proved.

Of course, there are always exceptions, it is really a matter of susceptability.

I think play safe. :D

Most of what you said LEE is right i do agree to a point that young kids should not be playin violent games at a young age. But that thing about if you don't stab some1 are you a poof. Well you can't be tha type of guy who runs away all the time you see trouble or get into a fight, you gotta stand up for yourself. But if mothers keep being so overprotective about little things like blood in a game and make them play with playdough you can just tell that the kid will grow up to be a poof gettin his ass whooped everytime he gets into trouble like Woodie Allen.
Whats really F@cked is how people blam games for some if not most of the crimes that are done today, if your stupid enough to think you can be like Solid Snake and kill in stealth then you should be shot at and there should be a sign on your forehead that reads SH!T for Brains.
People like that wreck it for the rest of us who know when it's a game and when it's real life.
And if kids get a little crazy and wanna shot people then just tell them its a game and that its fake just like Santa and the Easter Bunny.

I really hope that all games that come over here into Australia are not banned or changed so it all gets a G rating.
And i hope MGS2 stays the same.

Stupid ass over protective parents Live a little you boring
SH!TS!!!

Hey, L.G., this is turning out to be an interesting thread.
We obviously have slightly different views on this, and probably different life experiences - nothing is likely to change our views.

As for the issue of standing up for yourself, of course I agree with that, but it is valuable to know when to run or at least try to de-fuse a tense situation. This, unfortunately a rare talent.

If, for example, you were faced with 4 blokes built like brick sh*t houses who were demanding an apology for your drunken insults one night, would you apologise or try to kick ass?
Self preservation is part of survival - stupid pride doesn't enter the equation.

As for 'violent' games getting the blame for crime, I agree. People need a scapegoat, and these games are very handy for that.
Violent crime has always existed, long before these games existed.
Years ago we had the same issue with 'video nasties'. Remember those? They got the blame for just about everything.

But remember, this sort of violence really can affect some people, which is why the experts, who have infinitely more knowledge on this subject than we have, see fit to try to protect these few by issuing blanket certificates restricting all people under the age deemed to be possibly influenced.

If someone underage considers themself mature enough to not be negatively influenced by these games, I would also expect that person to understand why the restrictions have been imposed.
