That's because you're from New Zealand. Do you even have something resembling a winter there? :head: My geography is about as good as my knowledge of soccer......err, football.

Scarface
01-27-2004, 11:37 AM
We have winter.

It snows in the southern most part of the country.in the north (where I live) it never gets cold enuff to snow.

Its rather mild.

I dont like snow (no offence  )

And in a country of 4 million about 45 play ice hockey :happysad:

Alexandros

That explains it. It's not that bad of a sport, really. Unless you're one who likes to see points scored every minute. I suppose if hockey was actually broadcasted more often in Europe and Asia, more people there would be into it. Though few of them would get over being rabid about soccer....err, football....long enough to watch it.

hey, less of the jokes about football snowboy.......

i like ice hockey. very interesting sport but we dont get much coverage over in england. if i could ice skate without fallin ass over tit every 30 seconds, i would probably try and play it......

Hockey is great. :D

I can't ice skate (never tried actually), so I play street hockey once in awhile. My preferred position is goalie, there are few positions in professional sports with more action than being a hockey goalie.

Alexandros

I can barely skate myself.

I usually only keep up with the NHL during the playoffs.

I used to play hockey, was a damn good goalkeeper too.
Doesn't mean I like it, though.

Probably because you eclipsed the net just by standing in front of it. :upto:

I say go Anaheim! I'm currently enrolled in this neato "Ultimate Fantasy Hockey" League/Pool/Dealie.

Finally, a reason to associate myself with the NHL.

anahiem made a really bad move when they traded karia and sellane, so i dont like them that much, plus, im not even sur they made the playoffs

Alexandros

Playoffs don't start yet and I have no idea what the standings are right now. The Ducks had that weirdo miracle year, though.

Command3r Keen
01-28-2004, 07:05 PM
yeah, all i know so far is that edmonton probably wont make the playoffs (says the editor of the edmonton sun who says "if edmonton makes the playoffs ill eat this column") and that toronto is second overall in the nhl.

Alexandros
01-28-2004, 07:13 PM
I heard last night that the Oilers are 12th. Maybe if they win every single game from now until the end of the regular season.... :sarcastic

toronto is second overall in the nhl.

Its always the same, Toronto do good in the standings, even in the playoffs. Then the time comes...........and......................they screw up.

I like street hockey because you don't have to worry about fallin over. I'm a frickin good goalie :thumb:

street hockeys so easy though, and way less painful

I strugle to take seriously a sport that has teams named the mighty ducks and the penguins :sarcastic:

*remembers that we have a Sports Entertainment Forum now* Moved.

By the way, Scarface, the Mighty Ducks is quite the creative name.

Anywho, as for street hockey...try in on blades....on a hill :thumb:

Scarface, Manchester United doesn't really sound any scarier than that, and what about the San Jose' Sharks?(my favorite team)

On a hill quizmaster? That'd be crazy go nuts!

02-14-2004, 04:52 AM
I agree, all you need is a few good friends and something that travels well on the ground :thumb:. Oh yeah, and the street

Scarface
02-14-2004, 05:02 AM
No hockey stick?

And u cant compare Manchester United to the whadeva mighty ducks.

English football dont have cheesey nick names for their teams ,not official ones anyway ,if they did they would be 'The Manchester United Red Devils.'

Which I believe to sound a tad more menacing than the mighty ducks.

Dont you agree?

02-14-2004, 06:17 AM
Best part of Hockey is the fights....especially when the whole team gets involved :evil :D

Sman25000
02-14-2004, 06:25 AM
Does it even matter what their names are? It doesn't make them sound any more intimidating. It matters how the team plays, and how they work together.

Scarface
02-14-2004, 09:37 AM
I just mentioned it your the one who wanted to argue the point with me

Sman25000

You're right...

Hockey has a lot to do with teamwork. I'd say one of the most teamworking games there is, because they don't get any time to plan whatsoever except for maybe at practice.

Homeslice
02-14-2004, 10:34 PM
I dunno about that...I'd say both versions of football employ more teamwork than hockey.

In American football, every play is specifically drawn out with roles for each player to help the team, and in soccer it's pretty much impossible to get anything done without good ball movement among your team.
