As part of our new policy regarding registered members with 0 posts, around 14,000 inactive accounts have been cleared from our database. These deletions affect all those who registered before 1-2-2004 (that's 1st february for those not familiar with technical terms). :wtf:
We will also be operating this policy every 2-3 months where members who register and do not post will have their accounts cleared from our system, apologies to those who are adversely affected by this. :wtf:
If you are an unregistered member reading this post, please do not waste your time and ours registering an account if you have no intentions of using it, you are free to read the forums without registering so there is no need to create an account for this purpose. :wtf:

No, couldn't be bothered, the damn database ran out of memory just searching for 0 posters so if I had tried to compile email addresses it might have gone nuclear. :vacant:

This is soooooooooo way off topic, but if you must know, Gamers Gateway will NOT put up with any harrassment of its members

Good clearout Nem :thumb:
Weren't we not going to do this? With less than 3000 members, hasn't GG's ranking in various search engines just tool a powerful nosedive?

I like it just the way it is! I mean sure I'd be happy to welcome more people, but a few of them didn't look very interested anyways (or just not very nice) and that's why they weren't posting. I truly love this site and I think everyone else who is still here does too! I know I'm not a moderator, but hey, this is my opinion.

That is what I was thinking. However, as somebody has recently put it:
"I'd rather have 200 regulars than 16,000 non-posters"

Yeah i agree, except i wouldn't want that many regulars... I'd want about 50 regs maybe, but you wouldn't be able to remember anbody

It won't. Nem DID say it'll only affect people with 0 posts.

Twas me. Aren't I clever :O There should be a much lighter-load on the database now :D But the removed stuff isn't really relevant to the things being used and viewed by regulars, so I doubt it'll make things any quicker for anyone who used to find the forums slow. But ya never know :D
I-NemesiS01
02-03-2004, 12:57 PM
I also removed all previous attachments that were made to the forum, since we don't allow attachments anymore there was no real need to keep the old ones. :wtf:

Like on gamefaqs, there are so many people on there. I cant tell if their regs or non-posters. It would be impossible to keep track of them all.

Do not understand why so many members won't post. But Nemesis just give em' a private message letting them know that if they do not post by tomorrow, their membership will be canceled. :thumb:
P.S. Not telling what to do just a suggestion :thumb:

Good idea in theory, but not in practice. The time it would take to moniter who is and who isn't posting would take forever and Nem like me and the rest of the mods do not have the time to go through all the non posters. Perhaps we could get Blondi to add to her welcome message to new members that unless they post their accounts will be deleted after 3 months, which i believe is the time period that Nem is going to prune out zero posters.

If you would bother to read, its only pruning people with 0 posts...
Even if I joined two years ago, made 1 post, then left, my account would still be here...

Just create a thread in the news section writing what I was talking about earlier about not posting or their membership is canceled, simple.
