Well, you get a Pet and do stuff. I suppose the point is, with anything, to enjoy yourself.
There's a ton of games on it, you can play the stock market, gamble for all you're worth, or train for the BattleDome and beat the crap out of everyone.

I did, yes. Don't ask about the name, though - People don't tend to believe how I made it up.

Pmike, levels can raise all by themselves in a random event, but it's best to train in the Training Schools on Mystery and Krawk Island.
As for abilities, Faeries give them out. Quite fit Faeries, I must say...

Actually, a relatively similar, but not the same exact thing would be Go-Gaia (http://www.go-gaia.com) where you create a custom avatar and personalize it depending on what you want. It actually was interesting, but I quickly got bored with it. I haven't been there in quite some time.

For example, you can't get a Draik unless you buy a Draik Egg or morph a Pet into a Draik.

Krawks are much better, though.
