It is funny now when new releases of CPUs hit the market, few people take notice. They are better, but people do not notice a segnificant performance increase like it was back when the Pentiums first started to come out. Besides, even if you buy the best thing you can get, it is outdated when you get it home.
So what system do you have and what well make you upgrade ?
I went from a Intel 400Mhz to a Intel 1.8Ghz a few months ago for less then what I got the 400Mhz for.

if your going to get a geforce, u might as well get a geforce 3, if u dont mind spending money, from where i live its close to $200 US dollars. but if u do mind there are 2 regular geforce cards (cheap, but slow)and 7 different Geforce 2 vid cards.
The following list is with the cheapest and slowest cards first, and the most expensive and fastest cards last.
GeForce 256 SDR - Runs at 120mhz core / 166mhz memory.
GeForce 256 DDR - The same as a GeForce 256 SDR, except it uses DDR memory.
GeForce2 MX-200 - Uses SDR memory, with only a 64-bit addressing mode. Runs at 175mhz core / 166mhz memory.
GeForce2 MX - May use SDR or DDR memory, but both types produce roughly the same speed because DDR memory is forced to run in 64-bit mode, while SDR memory is still able to run in 128-bit mode. Runs at 175mhz core / 166mhz memory.
GeForce2 MX-400 - The same as a GeForce2 MX, except it runs at 200mhz core / 166mhz memory.
GeForce2 GTS (DDR) - Runs at 200mhz core / 166mhz memory.
GeForce2 Pro (DDR) - The same as a GeForce2 GTS, except it runs at 200mhz core / 200mhz memory.
GeForce2 Ti (DDR) - The same as a GeForce2 GTS, except it runs at 250mhz core / 200mhz memory.
GeForce2 Ultra (DDR) - The same as a GeForce2 GTS, except it runs at 250mhz core / 230mhz memory.
GeForce3 Ti 200 (DDR) - The same as a GeForce3, except it runs at 175mhz / 200mhz memory
GeForce3 (DDR)- Runs at 200mhz core / 230mhz memory.
GeForce3 Ti 500 (DDR) - The same as a GeForce3, except it runs at 240mhz core / 250mhz memory.
For u Akira, running on a 2GHz processor, i suggest either a Geforce 2 Ultra, Geforce 3(regular), or the Geforce 3 Ti 500.

If you get any of the old Geforce's you are an idiot. Geforce2 is good, but with a 1.8gig processor, you might as well get a good GeForce3. Otherwise the graphics card will probably be your bottleneck.

I'll mostlikley get a Gforce 3.
I just want a Graphics card that will run The new medal of honour game, My dads computer can only just run it with a Voodoo 3.3000!!!:(

It's great to see all these technological advances, but in reality you just don't need the latest, fastest thing out there.
I use a P3 600 with a g-force 2 3D prophet MX and I find the performance fine on Quake 3 Arena hi-res 16 bit, with a decent frame-rate.
It is the retailers who always push the fastest processors - truth is, it will be a minimum of 2 years before games currently being planned will be ready for the market, and even then, they don't require them to use the fastest processor available at the time of planning. To do so would design in a limited customer base.
Put simply, if what you have does what you want, why change it?
Regarding my system, it currently runs all the apps I use, and will still run those same apps in 10 years time. The only reason I would change anything is if I purchased a new app that failed to run satisfactorily, but as my audio and graphics editors do what I want and at a good speed, that time is a long way off.

Or get the cheaper, better performing, ATi Radeon 8500. IF you can get it in the UK! :p I've been trying for the last month to spend my Bday/Xmas money on it!
A Nice article worth a read (English part at the bottom) here (http://www.muropaketti.com/artikkelit/cpu/northwood2200/ln2/)
I mean c'mon liquid nitrogen isn't that a bit too extreme  It even says the p4 could take a lot more aswell as it was still quite stable at 3gig!!
imagine what they could make a p5 do when it's released :)
As for buying a graphics card here in the uk it's best to buy online for the latest models, Dabs is the best place i've found, good pricing, latest gizmos, not too far to travel :)

More info about that P4@3Ghz (http://www.gamingforyou.co.uk/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=21&t=000021).
Anyway, I am stuck with a crappy 633Mhz Celeron.

I agree, I had a choice between athlons XP 2000+ or intels P4/2.2, I opted for the P4/2.2, got a ASUS GF3 Ti500 etc etc and I forsee this system to be outdated in abt 1 months time........
