The only sport that I'm intrested in and it doesn't exist. Typical.

What are your views on the sport?

It's silly.

Rugby on broomsticks, with bits of baseball.

I dont' really understand quidditch. If the only way to win is to catch the snitch, then why do they need points?

It's not the only way to win. The game ends when you get the snitch. You get 150 points. If the other team scores 160 through goal scores, then they win.

Arr, but Gryffindor always wins. Damn them to the salty depths!

If it's not Gryffindor, it's Ireland. It seems like if you play for an intresting team you automatically loose.

The Bulgarian's really should have won that World Cup. I bet Krum fixed it.

I hate those Harry Potter know-it-alls....
That may be, but it doesn't me I hate you, my friend...

I don't get upset if people don't like the books. After all, the world is split into two people. The people who don't like the books and the other people who have good taste.

Wouldn't it be brilliant if there were actually broomsticks that you can fly on... I'd never have to eat another mushroom ever again... sigh....

I do like the books. I just dont like the people who join fan clubs, role-play, and take it too far.

Whats so bad about having an imagination?

I agree that it would be cool if quiddich existed as it sounds cool in the books and looks good in the films but we're not likely to ever see anything that resembles it in the next 50 years odd... unless someone manages to invent stuff that hovers. :upto:

Since cats always land on their feet and bread always lands butter side down, if we tie bread on cat's feet, then we should have a hovercat!

That said about Quiddich, I'm not too sure about the Bludgers...

speed demon
02-14-2004, 02:48 PM
Aye, for the bludgers you would have to make a ball with a microchip to give it some AI and strap some of these cat bread thingys to it to make it fly.  :wtf:

Meh :wtf: not that many people would die if you were well strapped to the brooms and they flew well. :thumb:

its a fictional sport for gods sake, it looks "fun" (apparantly) but to me it looks like what loop said, its rugby on broomstix, but think, you will never see a character like johnny wilkonson win the game, its way better than harry always seeming to be able to get the snitch....:wtf: it sux! :wtf:

I simply LOATHE the books. However, this sport sounds good. Maybe not as good as Blitzball, but it still looks good.

How can you loath something you've never read? That's like me saying "I hate Birmingham" when I've never been there. It's like when you said "Return of the King" was a brilliant film even though you hadn't seen it. If you don't experience things in life, you'll never know (God that sounded patronising, sorry). You need to be patient with books. Read beyond one chapter. Stick to it. Then you can loath it...

Avoid reading this if you know the rules. Or are easily confused. Or you don't want it to spoil the book for you...

Quiddich is a sport played on broomsticks. You've got 4 balls. A Quaffle, two Bludgers and a Snitch. You have seven people per team. Chasers, a Keeper, Beaters and a Seeker.

Four people pass the Quaffle to each other and try and score it into the enemy's goal hoops. They are called "Chasers." Each Quaffle scored is worth 10 points.

There are three golden goal hoops per team. It's the Keeper's job to stop the Quaffle going into either of the hoops. There's one Keeper in each team.

There are two "Beaters" in each team. They keep an eye on the two Bludgers. Bludgers are small black iron balls that zoom around to knock players off their brooms. It's the Beater's job to keep the Bludgers off their own team mates and hit them on the opposing team.

And finally we have the "Snitch". A tiny golden ball with wings. It's the job of the "Seeker" to catch the Snitch. When the Snitch is caught, their team automatically gets 150 points. The game doesn't end until the Seeker catches the Snitch (so games can last from minutes to months).

Quiddich is played on a giant oval pitch with three round golden goal posts at each side.

Few! There! I think I haven't missed anything. Oh yeah, the team that catches the Snitch doesn't automatically win. They just get 150 points. The other team can still win if they are 150+ points ahead. Catching the Snitch means that you finish the match.

I think I'll have a lie down now.... *pant...* If this doesn't earn me some Rep points, I don't know what will....:D

Very good job... although, did you copy that from the book?

Nope, I've got that memorised... I have that sort of brain.

I'd be a Beater. Take out my frustration on Phatty...

I would like to see what the Wronski Feint looks like. Krum must fly effortlessly to pull that off. Either that or he's very strong.

So you read the book, cover to cover, and the sport was the only thing about it you liked? Just to clarify...
