ECW was by far the best federation...I didn't start to get into it till it folded though. :(

By the way kevbaz, WWE is classified as a SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT show so it belongs right HERE. Sorry to disillusion you. :sarcastic . It's kinda like a soap, just with athletes. I mean, just like a soap is scripted, so is this. It's a lot more physical though. I love it :)

These people are putting their body on the line. If by fake, you mean they know what moves each other are going to do (90% of the time) then, yes you're right. Ralf, It's not classed as sport. It's classed as sports ENTERTAINMENT, just like EatDust said. Anyway don't knock it unless you've tried it. I did ballet in primary school, and some amatuer wrestling in secondary. They are completely different. You try going to a wrestling school for a week, then come back and tell me if it's just ballet!!!!!
P.S corrie is scripted, Angel is scripted and just about any other show on T.V is scripted. Does that make them any less entertaining????? I don't think so :sarcastic

When I was about 13 I started watching it, followed it for a good year and a half then got bored of it, just seemed to predictable and repetetive after a while. I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy it while I did watch it but it just always seemed like one of those things I would outgrow after a while, and I did. My favourites when I did watch it were Kane and The Undertaker. HHH annoyed me.

I stoped watching wrestling when they stoped having the barb-wire ring matches.

Todays wrestlers are great entertainers and superb atheletes but only a couple of them are willing to bleed.

Men like Dusty Rhodes ,Mick Foley ,Terry and Dory Funk , Abduhla The Butcher or Jerry Lawler were prepared to go the extra mile and realy get messed up.Terry Funks barb-wire matches were legendary and there was not an ounce of fake blood used ,there are pictures of Terry Fink with barbed-wire wraped around his head cutting into his face blood everywhere ,ive seen his matches on video you see the cuts form on the barbs you see them start to bleed.

There is nothing fake about that.

Most of the fighters today are so pretty they dont want to get their faces messed up.

Mom used to watch it herself bk then. I'm the youngest of three and I used to follow my sisters everywhere, so mom would keep me in and turn on wrestling. That's how I got hooked on it so young. 'course now she can't stand it. Blames it for me acting like a tomboy hehehehe :lol:

Ive seen HHH bleed ,ive also seen him cut his own eyebrow or forehead with a tiny razor hidden in his tights.

There is a difference between that and subjecting your self to being wrapped in barbed wire and kicked around a ring ,terry funk once had so much barbed-wire wrapped around his face it had to cut away with wire cutters.Ive got a picture of that to but its to messy to show here.

I fail to see what qualifies you to decide what is and isn't real wrestling.

I never said they aren't real wrestlers, infact I have a hell of a lot of respect for Mick Foley there. I like watching bared wire matches and what not, but I just don't think thats real wrestling. Leave them to the dude's that can't wrestler, and need weapon's to get a good match. And yes, I also say Mick Foley wasn't that good of a wrestler. What got him over you say? He has a hell of a lot of Charimsa. Also I doubt you have seen HHH blade himself, it's hidden. But yeah, he does. But not all wrestlers in WWE blade themself


Back to whats real wrestling? Normal, one on one wrestling. Ever watched Kurt Angle or Chris Benoit? Theres are great wrestlers who don't need weapons and what not to make a good match, they have skill. I'm not saying any matches with weapons isn't wrestling, are crap or anything. I like ladder matches and of the sort. But to go out and say Wrestling isn't go no more becuase they don't have C4 in the ring and bare wire matches... well, you're watching wrestling for the wrong reasons. Go watch UFC. Hell, did you even watch the Main event of Wrestlmaina XX?

I havnt seen a WWE Pay-Per Veiw Event in about 5 years .... nor am I likely to unless its free on TV.But I imagine if there was anyort of weapons match it would have invoved those dreadful tin foil trash cans that look rediculous.

I would rather rent some old harcore videos and watch the old school styles.

Also the soap opera thing has goten out of control on WWE now ... I saw an episode of RAW a while back and the 1st 20 minutes were just bollox talking and acting.Half the show was over before a fight even happened.

Oh my god! How could you have just said that about Kurt Angle?! No, I don't like Amatuer wrestling, it's boring and crap. I'm talking about Pro Wrestling here and Kurt Angle is one of the damn best pro wrestlers there is. Kurt Angle has had great matches using both weapons and just being in a normal single match. Seen Kurt Angle Vs. Shane? That was a street fight, and a hella good one too.

Actulay my Uncle was a Pro Wrestler for a small local outfit about 20 years a go as a young boy I was back stage for a number of events even on ocassion meeting people like Ric Martel and Peter Miavia (who was a freind of my uncles).

I dont know why ur arguing over something as trivial as Pro Wrestling ,all I said was I havnt watched it since Barb-wire matches went out of fasion ,the soap opera aspect has gotten rediculous and Kurt Angle is an embarrasment to Pro wrestling ,and I stand by those remarks.And at the end of the day they are only my opinions.

My uncle never realy took his wrestling that seriously he did it for about 5 years mainly becuase hes a little bit crazy ,before he broke his back.Theres not realy any money for the little guys working small shows in smal venues.Its like you get 50$ per fight and all the beer you can drink at the bar.

Maybe you should try a wrestling school. Some of the more reputable schools get scouts from some of the federations coming over every so often. That would be your best bet if you really wanna do this :thumb:

The thing is todays hard-core isnt like hard-core of old.

(I know I harp on about them) but you couldnt have a barb-wire match these days and to me thats the ultimate in hard-core.

These days someone gets hit with a tin foil trash can and while off screen blade their forehead and thats a harcore match.

I guess im being pedantic ,its not JUSt the lack of bodily mutilation that has turned me off WWE in recent years its a comniation of things.

The other main one in my opinion is the whole soap opera aspect that has taken over the WWE in the last 5 years.

IN the old days you would have grudges, gorrila monsoon would interveiw one guy who would yell threats and abuse then the other guy who would yell threats and abuse ,and then the fight was on.

These days we have 2o minute sections of the shows of big ugly guys in tights trying to act.

And vince is the worst.

I agree with you Scar, I liked the old wrestling when some wrestlers really were taken to the hospital or knocked out cold. But I still like wrestling even with its less realism, still has me watching it every week.
