Hey, as long as he starts shaggin English women and produces good footballers from them, where's the problem? I say sack him if he stops having the affairs.

id say 6 months, not cos of his affairs, but more to do with the fact that the guy is inept tactically, cannot judge players and is a muppett.....

Paul

Spot on.

I say use the affair as a great excuse to give him the boot without having to buy him out of his contract. The guy is useless.

he picks heskey and leaves out dyer, complete muppet

hes not gona have a chance to pick paul scholes again ... he retired form international football today.

Andy Villa

no loss, scholes was always crap for england anyway bar the odd game, once in a while.....

I call it the 'step up syndrome' ..... see it all the time in domestic club rugby in New Zealand

Players play like demons for their clubs ... absolutly shine in their position ... get picked for the all blacks and cant carry it through into international matches ... cant make the 'step up' ....

I think Scholes suffers from this a bit .... all though 7 years as an international is something to be proud of .... many different coaches over those 7 years have put him in their midfeilds ... to me thats the mark of a quality player if you can survive coaching changes ....

Im no expert but it seems to me he was a pretty solid international player who did his bit without being overly flashy....

Andy Villa

he had the potential and most international managers wanted that to come through. he does perform well at club level and at european level, but when it comes to the world stage, hes not been the player we expect.... it didnt help when wev got tactical numpties in charge though and play the guy out on the left wing in some games.... so not all of it is down to scholes not being a 'world class' player.....

Looks like the old man managed to squrim out of another mess.... and lives on ...

I think if it wasnt for the fact the english FA would have to pay out his HUGE contract if they fired him ... he would be gone .... I recon

But it would cost the FA a fortune to fire him with so much time left on his contract....

It's about time England realize they should play Bridge at left-back and Cole at left mid. Since England basically nave no left side offence when they play. :| How doesn't he realize that's the way to go.

Anyway, I think he'll last another couple of weeks.

stevengemmell
08-08-2004, 06:38 PM
Still think the should try Dyer as left mid

Andy Villa
08-08-2004, 08:34 PM
why? dyer is right footed... would be the same problem we have now, with right footed players having to cut back and cross with their right foot, which loses attacking momenum, or put a **** cross in with his left foot....

stevengemmell
08-09-2004, 02:45 AM
he's good enough to cause problems with his pace allowing cole to go down the flanks

Andy Villa
08-09-2004, 02:21 PM
or we could just play cole on left wing, bridge at left back and have 2 naturally left footed players on the left... we should try it. u never know, it just might work... it seems to work for every other footballing nation.....

the thing about englands left sided 'problem' is, there is no problem. wev got lots of talented left footed players. theres paul konchesky, matthew taylor, gareth barry, jimmy lloyd samuel, ashley cole, wayne bridge, alan thompson.... thats 7 left footed players who are all good enough to play for england or be blended into the english set up for the future... and im sure theres more, i just cant be arsed to think about them.....
