The ball has to get through 10 other players before the keeper has to make a save .... perhaps if the midfeild could keep possesion of the ball and the backs do some proper defending the keeper wouldnt need to be making so many saves.

Just a thought .... form someone who isnt an expert on foorball.....

or maybe a long speculative ****e shot should not creep under the body of a 6 foot supposedly agile international goalkeeper....

he only caught another that he let slip through his body with his ankles...

and that run outside the area when terry saved his arse doesnt bare thinking about....

the man is ****e and a liability.....

Word, English people ALWAYS have an excuse, never one time you've been beaten or drew with someone where there's not been loads of people with excuses, everyones been blamed.

You've blamed Beckham numerous times.
You've blamed James numerous times.
You've blamed Seaman.
You've blamed Sven's tactics.
You've blamed your left sided players.
You've blamed having too many games in the season compared to other leagues. ( )
You've blamed several referees.

Y'all can never face the fact that you were ever outplayed at any given moment on the field, and you're all living in 1966, thinking you're still world champions and world champion contenders, before every big tounament everyone gets soooo excited and everyone starts the whole "England are gonna win, woohoo" crap, and you set your expectations a mile too high and you get beat and then blame someone individual, it's never the team as a whole.

.. oh and before you start the "we're better than Scotland" crap that's inevitable to come, I know Scotland's football team is utter ****e, everyone in Scotland knows it, we make no excuses for being beat 'cos we always get outplayed and hammered in every game.

IM sorry but its tru ... y'all have to blame someone.

And I still believe my earlier point if the WHOLE team had played better perhaps you lot might have won.

He might be a rubbish keeper I wouldnt know... but blaming one player for a loss is simply rediculous.

That said, he is a bit ****. Look at all those penalties he missed in that Euro thing.

Who else could go in goal?

Scott
09-06-2004, 06:11 AM
Loop could!

With the size of him it would be physically impossible to kick a ball past him into the net taking into account that his body mass would take up the whole frame of the goal.

Paul

No, the keeper is expected to make some saves. Especially against Austria. And when the shots are relatively easy to save. And you're 6'5" with massive hands. And when you're considered a veteran. And when anyone's granny could have saved the second goal even with their arthritis and replacement hip.

I'm quite good in goal, actually.

better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all......

we blame people whos fault it is. if we play ****e, we blame either the players at fault or the coach depending on whos fault it is... the players are playing and the coach is picking the players or picking the tactics.....

the difference between england and scotland is, england are not collectively ****e as a team, unlike scotland.... so we can critisize one or two particular players individually..... thats why we do...

what makes me laugh, is the jocks who come on and make comments like yours, out of jealousy. you have never been as good as england, nor will you ever be and your hatred and jealousy of the english just shines through when you make comments like the one you have....

i await your inevitable bad reputation point....

Scott

Not jealous of England atall. :head:
You lot can never just admit to be outplayed as a team, it's always some individuals fault - and if it weren't for him, you'd have won whatever game it is. Yes,hmm, I'm sure you would.

Andy Villa

but we wernt outplayed and rarely are.... if we are then thats the fault of the coach.... we werent outplayed against austria.. we were 2-0 up and cruising apart from james antics.... although the free kick was a beauty.... some might question james's positioning or the fact that we dont put a man on the line, but theres no denying it was a lovely taken free kick....

now at 2-1 and the goalkeeper letting a pathetic shot through his body, which then makes it 2-2, its pretty obvious, that if he hadnt let that shot through his body, we would have won the game 2-1.... so the s points dropped were the fault of david james.....

Paul

Free kick was nice, but would've been blocked if the wall had the balls to jump.

Im sorry but thats a rubbish atttitude towards sport ... blaming 1 or 2 people for a TEAMS loss is pure bollocks ....

And I seriously doubt ANY country is jealous of the English football team...

A team of whiney over-paid under acheivers with fans who would rather crucify a player rather than admit their team is **** ...

Andy Villa
09-06-2004, 11:23 PM
so if the whole team played ****e or is ****e, then whos fault is that?

would that be the whole team as pro footballers or would that be the coaches?

why would it be the players? would it be because they were played out of position, ie, right footer on the left hand side? or would it be that they just have egos too large that they dont think they have to try? now if either of those are the case, then is that the entire teams fault? or is it down to an individual or two? and if ti is down to an indiviual or two, then is it fair to critisize the whole team?

when the whole team doesnt play ****, and the result is due to the mistake of one or two players, then i find it difficult to say that the team were ****e.. i could not say that stevie gerrard or john terry were '****'... we critisize who needs critisizing. nothing more, nothing less.....

the simple fact that you are crucifying them for being 'unerachieving overpaid whiners' pretty much undermines your arguement though...

by the way, did you watch the match?

Paul

When you have a collection of individuals rather than a team (which is often a disease of the English national side), you count on them individually to perform. The England setup is not a mechanic, suffocating machine like a Danish side, and so individuals can be blamed for a loss.
