What is considered 'classic'?

If Final Fantasy VII is a classic then that is it. If not, Super Mario World.

Well.. I guess "classic" covers a wide range... but anyways... for me, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy VI, Super Mario Kart, amongst others...

Ken, Ryu, same basic thing. I hated guile in SF two though, man did he ever blow. the only good attack he had was his lower kick/tripping move, which attacked twice, so if you missed the first time, you still had a chance

Such fond memories of SF2 in the arcade/chip shop;

"Hadoken! Hadoken! Hadoken! Hadoken! Hadoken!"
or
"Sonic Boom! Sonic Boom! Sonic Boom! Sonic Boom! Sonic Boom!"

That was all you heard most of the time. That and those f***ing elephants.

No way.

Guiles best move is his spinng backwards kick ( one van damme did so patheticaly in the movie)

the game is so easy with guile .. you wait for your oppoenet to make a move and then do the backwards kick ... works every time.

LIke the shang tsung cheat on mortal kombat 2 or the Seb Zero cheat for MK1 ... I can finnish MK2 (coin op) with out losing a round with shang tsung ,including the secret round where you fight jade.

And MK1 is almost as easy with sub zero.

Such fond memories of SF2 in the arcade/chip shop;

[i]"Hadoken! Hadoken! Hadoken! Hadoken! Hadoken!"

I alwyas thought they were saying 'All You Can!'

Did you never read the instruction book? Well, I suppose the arcade version never came with one, but the home version did, and it listed the names of all the moves.

Yes... if it wasn't Hadoken or Sonic Boom, it was elephants accompanying Dhalsim's stretchy low punch.

SF2

Revolutionised coin op games IMO.

I remeber walking in to video games parlous and one whole wall would be SF2 like 20 macines and everyone had people playing or people waiting.

Then Mortal Kombat came out ... and I was like 'whoah! I just pulled that guys spine out ..... cool!'

when I lived with my brother we had a coin op street fighter II.

I even have photos to prove it ,but sadly no scanner to post them.

that would be so cool. even know the games are old and nothing compared to new games. i would still spend endless amount of time playing these games if they where stilll readably avaiable.

Yes it was very cool.

Until you get mates turning up drunk at 2 am to play some SFII ... then its not so fun.

Well, it doesn't sound fun at all.. :(

I remember playing Mortal Kombat on SNES... and I can still picture the reaction of a friend of mine when we used Sub-Zero's finishing move: "now we finally get to pull... hey, what is THIS? Is he freezing the guy? Crap..." :D

My favorite classic game was raiden. The one where you're the plane and you fly into an enemy base blowing up crap :D.
