Anyone done this?

Me and Lee have our computers connected via the com ports for head to head gaming and it works fine.
Except Quake. Anyone know how to set the game up to do this?
When 'local' is selected, the created game isn't found, no matter what we try, obviously that setting is for people using nic's.
It must be possible, so any help here appreciated. ;)

Forgive me for saying this but WHY don't you just buy a couple of NIC's for around 10 to 20 bucks a Crack and use a cross over RJ-45 cable and use Direcct Cable Connection or TCP/IP mode

Simply because the serial cable is already in place and is used for other games.................:p

Obviously don't want to go the nic route if it can be done via com.

You could try a search on the PlanetQuake forums (http://www.forumplanet.com/planetquake) or post if there's nothing. I'm sure someone will be able to help there (they're Quakexperts :upto: )

Good luck.

Have you tried UT over the com? If you can get it to work - I find it's more fun than Q3A these days.
