OK ... so Liberty City Stories (http://www.rockstargames.com/libertycitystories/gta_lcs.html) was an "extension" of sorts on GTA II. Now, there's Vice City Stories (http://www.rockstargames.com/vicecitystories/gtavcs.html).
I didn't really like Liberty City Stories, and I think that Rockstar is just grasping at creative straws. They don't think they can top GTA so they're just adding on.
What do you think?

Vice City stories is only on PSP.
If anything Liberty City Stories was a prequel to GTA III not an extension of GTA II which was set in an unspecified future time and retained the birds eye veiw of the original GTA and it's expansions.
I am currently working my way through San Andreas (a bit late I know) and I will probably do LCS next.
Grand Theft Auto is a brand name now, no matter the content people will buy/play it on reputation and previous experience.

I think they could add some more things to new gta games but i think they wont be dramatic changes.

^I have to agree. With the genre, there is only so much that one can do!

Liberty City Stories started out only on the PSP so it's only a matter of time before they make it into a PS2 game.
I didn't mean that it was an extension chronologically ... I meant it in the sense as they were adding onto the story of Liberty City.

I agree with Math on this one!
Vice City stories is only on PSP.
So was Liberty City Stories. That didn't last too long.
Anything to make a buck.
Of course, if they were working on the next GTA simultaneously, and pumping out this little trinket to fund their main project, all well and good. I fear this not to be the case, however.

Takes awhile for san andreas to get boring now after however long its been out, i got it when it was brand new.As i said before i cannot see any dramatic changes in gta, apart from possibly graphics changing but that would ruin gta's famous graphic styling.

100% agree with you here :P
A brand reputation is always a sure thing to make a game sell :P most major games are based on brand reputation:Halo,Zelda etc...and even GTA

Mathfreak is right. Theyre just putting their first ideas out and seein if they can make any amount of money, even if it makes no sense.

I think a great way to make any future GTA series more original would be for an entire new city setting altogether.
Instead reusing Liberty City and Vice City, a new GTA game could have Rio De Janeiro, Brazil as the new city.

I do kinda agree with what you're saying but liberty city this time is going to be a lot different to last time.

Yeah it's not like it's gonna be the same city you won't really reconize it at all.

The phrase "completely redesigned" seems to spring to mind ...
