If they slow the site down, shouldn't we have everyone just not use them anymore.

BTW I will only give up my animation if everone else has to.

Custom avatars are ok because they are stored in the database thus not using up much speed,but pictures hosted on peoples websites need to be called each time they are used which does slow the board down.
