View Full Version : Which should I choose?
I promised myself that when I finished a certain project, I would get myself a next gen console as a reward type system. The thing is, I can't decide whether I want a Nintendo Wii or a XBox 360.
The Wii has Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario, Metroid, a future Mario Kart and the virtual console
The XBox 360 has Halo 3, Assassin's Creed, and others.
I can't really decide. What'd you think? If you've got either or both, let me know.
btw, for the people who hate 360/Wii and DON'T have one, don't tell me about it. Not interested.
Well I already told you I'd get you a Wii as soon as I could find one, so get the 360.

I'd get a XB360 for sure that's where all the games are at the moment Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Ace Combat 6... far surperior where the games are concerned.
Though SMG is a very nice game.

I have both and both are very different.
Wii for party/multiplayer gaming
Xbox 360 for single player and internet gaming
I'd go with the 360 if you can afford it.

I brought my 360 with me to the holidays this year, and I am quite popular with the kids in my family now.
You just dont get tired of laying a nice beat down in halo.

I don't own a Wii but I have played on one a few times. Don't get me wrong they are good fun but I'd rather have my Xbox360.
As for the PS3. I have one but don't even consider getting one. It lacks games and its going to take time to catch up.
No, I won't even consider getting a PS3. No games, blu-ray isn't popular (everyone's just started their DVD collections), it's too expensive and Grand Theft Auto is just one game. Sorry, I mean one delayed game.

Don;t forget Metal Gear Solid, it has the potential to be the "console selling game" that the PS3 so desperately requires.
So your choice is considered. I look forward to seeing you pop online tomorrow. Remember to get an Xbox Live Gold subscription though.
Yeah, it's Micro$haft, they charge you for everything.
A what who now? Subscription? I have to PAY to play games even further? I got suckered into World f Warcraft, I'm not forking a fortune to play online. :evil

Well what was your level of obsession with SSBM? If low then probably a 360 if high then a Wii.
Though I myself would still rather play all of the Wii games than the 360 ones minus Halo.

It's not a FORTUNE, I think it's about £15 for three months, and it's only if you want to play the games online.
And with a game like Halo 3 that's the whole point.

Remember GTA is on the XB360 aswell, with extra episodes released on live after the game has been released.

Live is 40 nicker for a years subscription.
Having both the ps3 and the 360 i would say there's little between them but the 360 probably has got a few more exclusive games also the ps3 does suffer from some shoddy ports by lazy designers.
I would say go for the 360 everyone I've spoken to that owns both a wi and a second console say although the wii is fun its a great second console and that's it most wouldn't have just a wii.

I've got all 3 and to be honest the 360 gets most of my time, the PS3 had a good run with uncharted and the wii hasnt been touched for 4 months. So i'd say the 360 just for pure gaming fun and value for money!

Which is selling the best? Just out of curiousity.
And looking at that post, it seems like an invitation for someone to say what curiousity does to cats :sarcastic:
Well the Wii is constantly sold out, but is that because of stock scarcity or the general rabidness of the populace for motion-sensing games?

the wii is in short supply right now because of christmas and parents wanting to get their kids a family oriented system for half the price of a 360
the wii is fun, but its alot better as a novelty item than a game system
I bought a 360 Premium, but after words with Loop, I'm going to exchange it for an Elite. Only 50 quid more. At the moment, the premium doesn't seem to work on my 42" telly. I've tried all the channels and there's nothing 360 shaped on the box yet.
Damn fickleness.
forty squid a year doesn't sound that bad...

You get a month free when you connect to XboxLive as well ;)
Yes, there is that.
Mike, read the manual. You don't need every single one of those connections plugged into the back of the telly.

Surly you can't b e serious.
And you call yourself a man .....
I never said *I* read the manual.

But, but, but ... just the fact that you suggested it, taints with the stigma of, "Those Who Read Manuals".

Reading manuals, pft. I'd rather not have the internet.
The only manuals I read are for games, and even that's primarily for the new-game smell contained therein.

mmmm new game smell.
I try not to read.

make sure when you do get your 360 hooke up that your switch on the back of your A/V cables is flipped to HD

I didn't read the Xbox360 manual but I do somtimes have a quick flick thorugh game manuals.
Saw another broken Xbox360 today. My local GAME store has a 360 setup in a pod and it had the flashing red ring of death...
Exchanged my 360 for another one. An elite. Gotta say, I do love it and it is very nice to, for once, be spoilt for choice when it comes to games! With the bundle, I got Halo 3, Assassin's Creed and Orange Box. I'm not too bothered with Halo 3 (fps can do my head in), Assassin's Creed looks pretty tasty and haven't played Orange box yet.
Gotta say though, I do like playing things I downloaded onto my comp on my telly. It's so much nicer seeing things on a normal, big screen for once!
Although, I've been trying desperately to upload my pictures onto the hard drive in the 360. Any suggestions?
As much as I'm going to miss playing Mario Galaxy, I think I'm going to enjoy this. A nice multi-media thingie is always welcome in my room. :D
Also the controller is really, really good! Also, can I buy, say, GTA for the xbox and play it on this? If I can, then I really, REALLY can start getting into all those things I missed out on!

I have 0 experience with the x-box, but you probably need to run an FTP program on the computer you are using to upload the images to the x-box and you will probably need to connect the 2 devices via an ethernet patch cable.
But that's just an educated guess.

Actually its simple if you have HDTV connect the red green and blue cables to your television and the red and white from the other cluster (skipping yellow) go into the audio device.
Be it the telle or the sound system or whatever.
If not disregard the redbluegreen and plug in the yellow same as any other console.
... or use the HDMI cable.

Microsoft has won the controller war this time round, though i still think the ps3 is the best out of the box package and as for the price if you price up all the add on's to bump the 360 up to a ps3 standard(bigger hard drive, wireless add on, HD dvd Player) its cheaper but it lacks the games.
Pmike you got a hd telly yea? Then get yourself a HD player trust me its worth every penny the films are stunning.

Really, i thought it is alot easier using the ps3 controller wireless then it is the xb360 or Wii as there are no batteries involved. plus it lasts alot longer...
That's why you get the battery packs.

What does it run on then? Surly i'm missing something here?
Also the xbox pad just feels much better sticks are better the way it fits your hand and the triggers are all better.

heh... that didn't come out right. It's all build on the inside and you don't need to worry about it. Plus it charges to full power in like 30 minutes from the console which you can't do with the XB360 as far as I'm aware.
Don't know about the rest of the controller I'm way more used to the PS3 controller, thanks to all the hours I've put into the PS2.

360 pad charges much like the ps3 one with the play and charge kit, i used to me a massive fan of the dual shock with the ps2 but for me the 360 is better also i has rumble but its just an all round better pad for me.
