So........how does everyone game?

Personally I kill every moving thing, I leave no live enemies behind me.

In a real-life zombie incursion scenario, it would be prudent. :)

Everything, in fact I will make a point of going back in a game, just to make sure everything is dead.

Depends entirely on if there are downsides to killing everything.

There is never a downside to killing everything.

me an ammo saver....

I kill only what I have to; escape and saving ammo and hit points is the way to go.

Melee everything into submission.

Use ammo to shoot out every light in the level...

It's a strange and habitual compulsion.

Surely it depends on the game, what difficulty level etc etc...

In my experience a game can sometimes be better the less things you kill, RE1 with Chris for example was next to impossible to kill everything so you had to dodge a lot of the enemies.

Of course it is, Mr Estecado.

Anyone's that played Splinter Cell or better yet Hitman knows fine well that the kill everything tactic is possible but you generally get better results from killing only what you need to. Shame really I thought Assassin Creed would be the same but there seems to be no downside to just having at all the bad guys.

I tend to only go after the target but I have been known to kill those annoying women that run up asking for cash as well as the mental folk that just push you for no reason at all.

There's a reason; they're mental. Hence the gibbering.
And there's no reason to kill civvies, just throw the women away and punch the nutters. You can beat the merchants about a bit for knives instead of pickpocketing them too.

I usually kill everyone. Especially in Assassin's Creed, you can just own people in that game.

Meh, I'm so bad at these types of games that I try to get by only killing what I have to.

Depends on the game really but I normally only kill what I have to.

Hmmmm....well, in several cases, I'm usually racing against time. Then I don't kill everything.

Surely it depends on the game
It does, esp. the enemies' AI. In some games the enemies will chase you down forever unless you get rid of them all, in other games the enemies are confined to certain areas and won't pursue you beyond them. Also if there is a timer on then you wouldn't be able to kill everything too, as Quizzy says.

... except if you kill civvies in AC, you lose sync.

Yeah but where's the fun in that? Plus I've just stuck a knife through her throat I am willing to bet she ain;t gonna ask me for cash again.

Yes, but you don't get an achievement for killing the beggars.

You get an inner satisfaction in knowing your making the world a better and more aesthetically appealing place.

Me, I will only kill what I have to.. Like an assassin just doing his job and nothing else.. ^_^ haha!!

but yeah it depends on the game.. what if you have a quest or mission to kill everything.. you may never know.. ^_^

Well if you can pick up rewards for killing things then that's all the more reason to kill them all.
