It's Official.

As some of you may or may not know, Nem has finally left the forum for good, he left a message asking that his account be deleted, which I complied with.

Since this time I have been in constant contact with Trade the owner of the forum and today he announced to me that I will be filling the role left by Nem. Which is to say I will be responsible for getting the forum updated when needed, installing hacks and mods and generally being the liaison between GG and trade.

We both feel that GG has the potential to be bigger and better than ever before and I have some ideas to facilitate that. Although there will not be wholesale changes, there will be some, including:


Trying out new hacks and mods for vB, to bring some of the fun aspects back to the forum, i envisage us trying them out and then the members voting on whether they should stay or go.

The arcade. Lets get rid of the games that aren't played and replace them with new ones on a regular basis, so that's its not the same games all the time.

Affiliates: We are going to try and get more links from other websites pointing to GG and vica-versa.

Trade has indicated that he may provide real console games as prizes for competitions conducted on the forum.



As far as staffing goes, things will not be changing immediately, but I do want to look at a couple of staffing issues I have eventually.

I think that's about all the information I have for now, but I want to assure people that I am not going to be the same as Nem in regards to how the forum should be run, I would like to see important decisions decided by the members themselves using the vote system with a majority rule out come.

I made this ages ago which could be used in part or in entirety - although css could be used on the buttons as a better alternative to flash.

Yup, we can definitely look at that.

It is looking dated.

Unlike Nem I am not going to pooh-pooh an idea immediately, but encourage discussion and debate and find a solution that most people are happy with.

Don't waste your time Scar, you're more dedicated these days to this piece of **** forum than anyone, it'd take a miracle to get this place back to it's former glory, nobody gives a **** about it anymore, not due to you whatsoever - just down to the fact that it's supposed to be a gamers forum and 90% of the posters don't give a **** about games, it'll get nowhere.

Save yourself the hassle, I know you wanna be the top the dog here and now you are but you're only gonna be dissapointed as all of your efforts will be for nothing and the only one dissapointed in the end will be yourself mate, save yourself the hassle.

Well, Scott has a point of the lack of gaming discussion on here.

Perhaps a video game spotlight where a senior member of the board writes a monthly, weekly, whatever, game review.

This is why I decided to get involved, my first job is getting the forum updated to the latest version of vB (which trade is working on), then we can start looking at new mods and hacks for the forum.

I may even spend some of my own money on some a new skin or two.

UPDATE:

Within the next few days the forum is going to be moved to a new server, this is to help facilitate the upgrade needed to bring GG up to date with the latest version of vB.

Don't be surprised if you try to log in and find the forum off line, but rest assured we will be back and better then ever.
