Favorite LAN party game?

What is your favorite? Why? Favorite genre for LAN parties?

I'll start, I primarily like RTS games, simple learning curve and easy to get into. I have been thinking about sins of the solar empires for the next one I go to, hopefully people will want to play it!

Good shout, personally though its UT2004 or Battlefield 2.

I think fighting games are good because they show the most results of improvement. I mean, if you're playing an FPS with a group of people, and certain people are best, they'll keep winning.

But with fighting games, it is more likely to see people getting better, identifying their techniques and so on.

Diablo II was an old favorite of mine with LAN parties.

S'pose Halo 3 lately.

Not done it, but me reckons Civi 4 would be well wicked to LAN.

Although you would need at least 3-4 people and they would have to know how to play all ready to make it interesting ... and you would need a fair few hours.

But yeah!
