Well a few reviews are starting to pour in now with IGN giving it 10/10 i discounted that review on the fact IGN is ****e and their video review was so dreadful just some guy saying it the best for 4 mins.
But eurogamer have put theirs in now giving it a 10 also and gametrailers giving it 9.8

Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=134493)
IGN (http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/869/869541p1.html)
Gamespot are dragging their feet as per usual these days more than likely paid off to hold their review till after Tuesday as happens more and more with them since the cnet take over.
Edit: Games Radar have throwen in with a 10/10 scored too Linky (http://www.gamesradar.com/ps3/grand-theft-auto-iv/review/grand-theft-auto-iv/a-2008042774322495013/g-20060313153735796095)
So basically... quite a good game then?

Gametrailers video review is excellent - much better than the IGN nonsense.
Seems to be talk of it being slow to load on the ps3 which seems strange as its supposed to be the more powerful of the two.

Wouldn't think loading times would have much to do with power probably just reading the disc slower.

could be the xbox version is caching to the hard drive I suppose

The ps3 version installs to the hard drive 3 gig or more i believe so dunno from what i've read the ps3 has slightly better frame rate and less pop but runs at a lower resolution and the 360 has the downloadable content.
Urg, lets not start a my-console's-better-than-yours argument. It's just boring.
I'm not sure I'll believe these reviews until I actually play the game. The loading times on GTA San Andreas were awful and I thought it was a tad too unforgiving, but this looks pretty damn snazzy.
So, yes, I am looking forward to playing this as much as I did with Mario Galaxy, but as long as it's not too difficult. I'm getting rubbish at games with age...

No, seriously. I'd bring up a ling to a machinima with a well-reasoned argument about it all, but it's from halo 3 and Mikey hates FPS's.
But I don't, so here is the link.

I found it to be pretty damn easy so far, easier then any of the previous GTA's anyhow.

I used weapon cheats in the last game to give me all the weapons from the start. Don't think I'll be cheating no matter which version I get because I'll be wanting to play online.
Think I'm getting the 360 Version now due to the fact that XBL is better than the PS3 Network.

Why bother even playing the game?

Sorry, iv'e never understood the "cheat from the start" mentality, games are a challenge to me and I take pride in completing a game.
If you cheat from he start, there is no challenge.
Cheating I don't mind, just as long as it's not online.

I couldn't be bothered collecting all the weapons, GTA SA was hard enough without some of the best weapons available.
Cheats are out tho for anyone interested.

Right enough of this mince, I assume you folk have played the game, so what's your opinion?
Let's get straight to the point this game moves the GTA marker along way, this is the closest game yet to actually having a living breathing city and that is something truly amazing. The game goes beyond what I expected of it and I am loving it
We all know about the funny sh*t in the GTA games anyone found anything intresting or comical yet. Here's the two I've found.
- Bring up the mobile phone and dial 911, you'll actually be put through to the emergency services and be given the choice of what service you want. Select one and wait a few moments and they will turn up.
- Jack a car put make sure it's one that has a driver that will fight back, wait for them to grab the door and open it a bit and then put your foot down, laugh as the driver tries to hold on to the door and gets pulled along until you smash them in to another vehicle.

The police car computers are good, stop and do a search on a name such as Niko. You don't show up on the computer but you can still see other names in the database if your fast enough. This gives you a target to take down. oh and you can also call for backup ;)
Breaking into locked cars is cool. This time he smashes the window either with his elbow or leg and hot-wires the car. Couldn't do that in GTA3,VC or SA

breaking into cars is well animated
water effects are top class
cars handling takes some getting used to but is good
maybe its just me but on my screen when driving the car is a bit right of centre which is a little annoying...

I ****ing loves this game there's so many nice touches its brilliant agree with laughing man its the closest to a living city yet people are actually going about their business.
I've seen a few people bitching about this saying its nothing new those people are either A) PC fanboys gutted they are going to have to wait or B) dicks that always moan about great game just for the sake of it.
I'm sure I saw an NPC driver keel over dead at the wheel and career into the wall.

I just noticed this post
Blu-ray is slow as ****.
Source please, the Data transfer rate of a 12x DVD drive should be around 16 or so Mb/Sec a 1x Bluray drive has a data transfer rate of 36Mb/s. So in what way is that slower?
Are we talking seek and access times here I can imagine the Blu ray would have a longer seek time since it requires a more exact positioning of the read laser but in the real world we are talking milli seconds certainly nothing anyone would notice.
Anyway back on topic, getting drunk is a riot, driving and walking are a total laugh. I went for a drink with Ramon staggered out of the bar and was advised to get a taxi back to the flat, of course I got in to my car and a nearby policeman saw me in my drunken stupor saw me and called for back up. Drove off and promptly crashed in to something and the engine stalled, couldn't get it restarted so fell out of the driver door on to the road grabbed the nearest car I could find and sped off leaving Roman to the cops.
Also tried online dating, and have gotten hold of a helicopter, the city looks amazing from the sky though their is still noticable transition from high res close up graphics to low res far away graphics.

Yeah, so did I but so far all rejections.
Just like reality... :(

So back to the game?
None of the shops around here are selling it unless you made a reservation... and as I just got my 360 last week, I didn't... So I gotta wait for amazon to ship it. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Oh you mean that youtube video by the XBox fanboy trying to claim that he isn't an XBox fanboy. Yeah he makes a point and I;ve done some digging around to see what's the story but to use the argument that the PS3 has to install data to the HD is just as weak as a PS3 owner using Blu-Ray as a plus point.
Better link to more info that doesn't include fanboyish bullsh*t spin

Every games store in NZ seems to have plenty of copies, i've not seen a single sold out sign.
What? A GTA game that wasn't banned in the colonies?
Scarface

There are giant red R18 signs all over the store displays and messages like "Product will not be sold without photo ID".
Well at least you're all learning. :)

Ooo double post, nah different train of thought.
What's the storage capacity of the 360, never really considered it before but if R* are gonna have downloadable addones for the 360 how the heck are you gonna store them if you don;t have a HD. Do you need to have a HD?
Back to PS3 anyone know if Custom Playlists are possible in the PS3 version of GTA4?

There a 512 meg memory card and there's a 20gb and 120gb hard drive i would imagine you will need the hard drive, having the hard drive does make the game run hell of a lot better also less pop up.
20gb drives can be picked up on ebay for quite cheap now second hand i nearly picked one up myself the other day for my second 360.

Same as Elder Scrolls you'll need a HD, there's no reason not to have one now really there cheap enough. Though like Elder Scrolls: GOTY Edition I expect when GTA4 gets re-released as a classics title it'll contain the D/L content aswell.
