View Full Version : The New Prince of Persia

This definitely looks different.
I'm more curious to find out what Alex has to say about this...
New details for Ubisoft's new Prince of Persia game have emerged online, including screens of a new art direction influenced by cell-shading and magna.
According to a translation of a preview from French magazine Joypad, the story is more like a fable than the original titles, with the Prince fighting to heal a world corrupted by evil god who the Prince accidentally released from imprisonment.
The time rewind mechanics have been removed, but the Prince can slide along walls using a glove. Environments will be as much a vertical game as it's horizontal. Those who suffer with Vertigo should not play.
Apparently, the initial design was more influenced by the 'open world' of Assassin's Creed, but the developers found players got lost quickly. The game will now be more structured, but still not as linear as the previous games.
We think it sounds and looks like it's taken a healthy dose of inspiration from Legend of Zelda, which is all good by us. No word on a release date, yet.

Hm. Doesn't look too awful.

He's anime! What have they done to my Prince??!!
Well if this is done the right way then it could make for a very effective game, but it depends on what kind of game it is. It's not something I would envision for PoP but the game itself could be good if done right.... however the new Prince doesn't look too attractive anymore. :(
Edit: I also am distinctly unfond of anime-type things, with few exceptions. Like Astro Boy.
This coming from the girl who didn't know the prince had blue eyes and complained profusely. I love the art style. I do think the PoP system has run it's toll, but if the game really needs to improve on something, it's on it's story. Ubisoft are really bad at doing game endings (Assassin's Creed, Pop 2 and 3) and the stories tend to build up to something spectacular and then, splat, nothing.

It'll be the next game that comes out which they're making now but there's no release date announced yet as far as I know.

Dunno.

I don't know what that has to do with what I said.... but you know my Pakistani friend told me that her people most definitely have blue/green eyes and that's close enough to Persian so it was only then that I believed that they can have those eye colours.

Well that is only a matter of opinion. Currently I started playing WW again so that I can try to get the other ending, as for Two Thrones I don't really even remember what the ending was though I think it was a lot like the SOT ending, no?

No more time rewind and such.
This game will suck ass it was the time rewind that made it so different to other platform games the chance go if you messed up a jump there was a section at the end of the first game where they took it away and it was crap almost made me stop playing.

Well Fill, there might be other new things they add to make it good but yeah the time rewind thing is pretty unique.
Is this a continuation after the PoP: Two Thrones??
Dunno.... but I heard that it's a different Prince and people are calling it the "next generation" of PoP.
No I think it's a different kind of storyline, but I don't really know.

Altaïr definitely isn't gay.

And he's not Persian.
But he's not straight either. He's more eagle than human...
Of course he's straight. How else would his genetic memory get passed to Duncan if he never had kids?

Fag hag?
He might have cloned himself... If they can have magical balls that can show holograms of the earth, they could have cloning...
edit: And then he DID IT with the clone!
sorry for the double post, but has anyone see the latest Edge magazine? It looks very nice. If not a bit too cluttered.

Its like a floppy book, that the people used to read before the internets happened.
It appears they formed some sort of symbiotic relationship with coffee tables.
Truly this is a disturbing universe...
