Lotteries will be help once a week, winner gets all, if there is no winner .... JACKPOT!
If 2 or more people have the same number, the money will be split evenly.
Tickets are 100 creds each, limited to 10 ticks per member, you can choose your own numbers, or go with the randomly chosen numbers.

It's true that kind of captial gains tax is going to cripple our economy.
I think we need a wager system.
3rd party moderated bets - money held in esgrow.
So when caren pops off at the mouth - I can bankrupt her crazy menopausal ass.

So we can bet (play the lottery) with the credits earned, but ultimately, what will be the pay off? Can a "peon" cash in credits to delete or alter another's post. You know, "A Mike for a moment prize."
Perhaps a non "salaried' member could create a quiz that if it stumps all of the members, they accrue extra credits to be used to buy the afore-referenced mod for a post option.
Talmon

You think I'm the only one who deletes your posts?
I'd say I mop up 10% max.
PS I like this lotto thing.

Do not be paraoid, I just cited you as an example.
It was just another idea as to how to use the credits won/earned, etc.
A stupid idea, to be sure.
And yes, I finally found something useful for our credits, gambling!

Ok, we got a button up now, well three actually, but the other two are just place holders as I intend to have a quizzes and arcade button there as well.
If anyone wants to make me some buttons I would appreciate it (contact me by PM for deatils), but i'm resigned to the fact I will most probably end up bumbling me way around photoshop myself to make some.
ALthough the jackpot amount is being displayed, its a cheaty one as its not actually dynamic, I have to edit the style template every time it changes. But at some point I will see if adam is able to code it in a way that makes it dynamic. I might even have a go myself :)
Although my coding ability is sub-par at best.

What time today is the draw being made?
Scarface
06-23-2008, 10:30 PM
Thats a very good question, one I have no answer for.
When setting it it doesn't ask for a time, only a date.
As this is the first one we have done we will have to wait and see what happens.

For a 1 in 1,000,000 (or something) chance of winning 6,200 Gre....... nope cant do it...... Credits? Seems like a tax on those of us that are bad at math. Or maths, or whatever.

The idea of a lottery is the chances of wining are slim so that the total jackpots, until someone wins a huge amount.
Catbert
06-24-2008, 04:06 AM
But if no one chips in does the amount still build up?
Scarface
06-24-2008, 04:07 AM
nope, people have to but tickets before the jackpot goes up.
Catbert
06-24-2008, 04:13 AM
Well then I figure we're going to have a very stable jackpot.
Alexandros
06-24-2008, 07:55 AM
The chances of winning are really like 1 in 20 if you buy the max number of allowed tickets, ten.

06-24-2008, 07:58 AM
Thats what I thought, but then I thought that doesnt sound right and my math skills are virtually non-exsistent.

It doesnt take a genius to work out any new feature is going to be used the most when it is first introduced and then the usage drop off, you people make the mistake of thinking I do this stuff for you, I don't, I do it so that when new members join they have something to hopefully keep them interested.
Believe me when factoring in the amount of help and support I get from (most) of the established membership here, I have little to no desire to do much at all for them.

^It is lonely up at the top there dude...
I must say that between the period when I left then came back I have noticed a huge amount of changes/revisions, etc. New ideas, links, new games to come in the Arcade, the lottery, quizzes, well..new hierarchy, new style.
There is actually extremely active and innovative participation from the 'Powers that be" on this board.....There was not the effort in the past. Status quo was getting GG nowhere. Hopefully the efforts will serve to bolster the membership rolls in the form of active posters.

Yes but what do you expect (most of) us to do really.....
Most of us are not in a position to help out with hardly anything with this site, other than making graphics and that is not something that everyone here is interested in.
It's amazing enough that we put in the time to come here and post, really.
No other forum of this type is going to be any different.
I like to do what I can but only if it's something I can do and if I have the time, I'm sure that's the case for everyone here.

That's a bunch of bull****, any one of you could take 30 minutes a week to write a small article for the blog but how many have offered?
When adam was setting it up he asked how many members I thought we would get willing to do it, I said knowing this lot absolutely zero. At least I wasn't disappointed.
You expect the forum to be here all day everyday but are not prepared to do anything to ensure its continued success.
And as soon as GG goes off line, my MSN is going crazy with people asking what's going on and when its going to be back.
30 minutes a week ....

Well spelling and grammar need to be perfect for a start.
All I do is do a google search for gaming news, find a relevant article, extract the information from it and re write the article including the information, and its done. For copyright reasons copy/paste is totally out of the question.
But as long as it is significantly different from the source it is ok.
I'll tell you what, PM me a test article that you have constructed, and if its up to scratch your in, if not I can let you know what's wrong with it and we can go from there.
