Could it be possible, I read on Gamefaqs the other day that Sony are thinking of taking forward the release of the PS3 with the release of the X-Box. Could it be that Sony are getting scared of the competition. All the better for us if they do release it early. Do you think it will be backwards compatable again with the PS1 and PS2 games??

I read about this on digitiser the other day,I don't know what to make of it.It could be good,after all it was touted at the time of the PS2 release that the PS2 would be as powerful as that arcade thingy sony were doing,forgot the name but it is basically 16 PS2 units in one.Imagine that kind of power on ur telly.

It could also be bad,the PS2 aint been out for very long and if sony are thinking of an early release for PS3 then I think they are underestimating the PS2.The psx was not as powerful as the N64 or the dreamcast but it beat them easily.I would wait the accepted lifespan of a console (5 yrs) before releasing the PS3.

If they do release the PS3 that early they could be making the same kind of mistakes that SEGA did and end up alienating loyal users ... and look where they have ended up!!

I can't see that happenin :D Sony have more sense! They would be more likely to keep working on PS3 for another year or two and release it when Nintendo and Microsoft release their next consoles!

But I can't see that happening either! It'll come out in a year or so... a year or so before they think Nintendo or Microsoft will next release something big.

It was called the GSCube, and is essentially the prototype PS3 (which will obviously be much smaller! :D)

Makes no sense to release it now,the PS2 is more than capable of beating the Xbox and Toaster...oops...sorry Gamecube.I think it would be a mistake and I will see it never happens,I shall go to Sony HQ and play Des o' connor records until they surrender to my 'No PS3 yet' demands.Either that or i'll threaten to show them a picture of loop.:wtf:

Guys, if a PS2 costs fortunes......then What the F*** shall a PS3 cost at the moment?!?!?!
I bet there's still millions of kiddoz saving up for a PS2....now if a PS3 comes out, people will stilll be way too occupied with their PS2.....soo......bad idea....But you never know though.....:D
I gotta say X-box and GameCube are doing better then I expected (in US that is)

Releasing the ps3 in a year or so would be a waste of money and it would piss alot of people off. Why? Becuase they just bought a ps2 and when a new system is realsed they stop making games for the previouse system. Which would piss alot off and piss me off. And do you really think they can get much better graphics nd stuff then there already is? I think what they need to do is just make the system upgradable so they can just make an add on instead of realeasing an all new system.

Are you saying PS1 games aren't made anymore? :D Over 100 PS1 games have been released since the PS2 came out, and there are still new ones being made and due for release some as late as mid 2003 :p

Well, there's two things that can happen.
A: Xbox is such a populair console, that microsoft makes mayor money and takes over thw whole gaming industry
B: Xbox sucks and Sony has no reason to publish their console earlier...

So don't count on a release any earlier than 2-3 years.....
