My dad wants to replace our 64K ISDN with 512K Blueyonder Broadband Cable - but they don't do it in our area at the mo :(

Dont get ISDN if you want to get ADSL later they'll have to rip out the ISDN line and then put in an old copper one again and it will cost ya.

None of the unmetred deals that I know of allow you to use the 112k option, only 62k.

I've got Broadband CABLE-internet. I average 50 Kb/sec (so that's not the max or aomething). A VERY slow download would go at 10 Kb/sec, a nice one would make the 100, and a VERY nice FTP will make 200 sometimes.......
And that connection is shared over 3 PC's, so 3 times 50 is 150 average :D:D:D

You can buy a cable modem for around £150,then it costs around £40 a month for subscription to the broadband service which is a lot of cash.

This may not mean anything to a lot of people but at the moment i've just finished planning a fibre optic network around the City of London. It will eventually link into a backbone route which runs up the centre of the country. Just don't ask where the cables are running when there is a no dig policy in the City!!!!!!

NTL are doing a broadband connection but its 24.99 a month it would have to be a bit cheaper b4 i'll be interested.

Hey althalus,yeh my brother in law uses NTL broadband.He pays £40 a month because he is only renting the modem,if you buy it you only pay £24.99 a month I think.It's damm good,he downloaded windows XP in a matter of hours and that is a damm big file.

It does slow down if you have any more than 10 downloads at any one time I found,but then do you really need any more than that?:wtf:

Aint blueyonder broadband through 'Telewest',if i'm right they are owned by NTL so in theory they are available in my town.I can't get fecking NTL tho so i'm now sulking.:(I can only get on NTL through BT and like I said I need a credit card.:(

At my school they've got a T1 connection, it's connected to about 30 or more computers.....and it's still faster than a telephone line is for one computer:D I can say one thing. It's bloody fast:D
